Malisse sees off Nalbandian

NBTA alumni Xavier Malisse knocked out #7 David Nalbandian 6-1, 6-4 tonight at the Sony Ericsson Open. Malisse entered the tourney ranked #311 in the world due to injuries which have kept him out of play for the last couple of months. Nalbandian had been 4-0 against Malisse in his career, including a win over him at last year’s US Open. Malisse will now take on another player who trains at the Academy, Radek Stepanek, in the third round. The two have played four times before with each player winning two of those matches.

It’s nice to see Xavier winning again. When he is in the zone, which it appears he is, he is capable of beating anyone in the world!
