Breaking News: Vaidisova hires Felgate
We have learned that Nicole Vaidisova has hired David Felgate as her coach. Felgate had a very successful coaching career with Tim Henman for 9 years, and continued this trend with Xavier Malisse and Naomi Cavaday. He was also the Performance Director of the LTA from March 2003- May 2006.
This is a great hire for Vaidisova, as Felgate is one of the game’s top coaches. Felgate will begin working with her as of this Sunday here at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. Vaidisova will also spend some time in London, England before her first clay court tournament in Berlin and throughout the year.
Neil Harmon from the Times Online has an article about it here.

Do you feel Nicole’s resent struggles have more to do with her health or coaching? & what is your reaction when long time academy players go through times like Nicole is having now. I know as a parent of a junior player it can be difficult when things aren’t going so well on the courts.
It’s hard to say JW. She has had some off-court distractions to go along with her health issues. She is as talented as any of the top girls on the WTA Tour, and has showed in the past that she can compete with them. I feel strongly that she will regain her confidence and get back to her winning ways.
As far as the second part of your question, it’s part of life. Everyone is going to struggle at some point in their career. I continue to support her anyway I can and always will.
I see, well I hope she gets it back soon too the top 10 misses her. You seem to have a genuine connection with all of your students that is why I asked thanks!
About time, he has been messing Naomi C around for too long.
