Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy student Sabine Lisicki won her first round match today in comeback fashion against Russian Elena Vesnina. After dropping the first set 6-3, Lisicki managed to take the second set 6-4, and then blew her off the court in the third set 6-0. Again, Lisicki didn’t serve too well (48% on first serves and 8 double faults) and she made way too many unforced errors (46), but she found a way to win. This has been her theme the entire year.
Lisicki will now face 12th seeded Agnes Szavay in the second round. This will be the first meeting between these two talented teenagers. Good luck to Sabine!
