Wimbledon 2008 – Vaidisova into 3rd round…barely
Nick’s Picks will have complete coverage of Wimbledon 2008, and we are teaming with Tennis Week and The Independent Newspaper in London to provide in-depth analysis throughout the tournament! Also, be sure to listen for Nick on Radio Wimbledon each day at 4pm EST!
Nicole Vaidisova needed every bit of three sets to beat Samantha Stosur this morning at Wimbledon. After winning the first set 6-2, Vaidisova lost the second set 6-0 and then proceeded to drop the first three games of the third set. Trailing 3-0 in the third, Stosur had a point to go up 4-0 but Vaidisova battled back. She got it to 3-3 and then never looked back winning the third set 6-4.
It has been a long time since Vaidisova has won a match like this. It is great to see her comeback from the brink of defeat to advance. Maybe this will help her confidence even more, and she will now face another Australian in the third round, Casey Dellacqua. Vaidisova and Dellacqua met once earlier this year at Indian Wells, and Dellacqua won that match in three sets.

Come on Nick. Vaidisova couldnt have won the first set 5-2. Is this really Bolletieri?
Anyways Vaidisova hasnt been playing that well all year. Stosur had been a top 20 player, so i can see Vaidisova losing her next match against Dellacqua anyways.
Honest mistake with the numbers there. So many players and numbers my head is spinning! Vaidisova hasn’t had her best year, but she is still capable of good results when she is on top of her game.
I love Nicole Vaidisova, she is beautiful. I hope she does well at wimbledon 2008 and has a great career.
