Wimbledon 2008 – Venus moves on

Nick’s Picks will have complete coverage of Wimbledon 2008, and we are teaming with Tennis Week and The Independent Newspaper in London to provide in-depth analysis throughout the tournament! Also, be sure to listen for Nick on Radio Wimbledon each day at 4pm EST!

Venus Williams became the first player to reach the semifinals this morning with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Tamarine Tanasugarn in the quarterfinals. It looked as though Elena Dementieva would be her semifinal opponent, but that is now not a certainty. Dementieva won the first set against Petrova 6-1 and was up5-1 in the second set before Petrova came storming back to win it in a tiebreaker. They just started the third set, and it is anyone’s guess who will win (for the record we picked Dementieva in 3).

Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day…
