Players training at the Academy
There are some pros as well as some of the world’s top juniors training at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy this week. Among them include two players trying to come back from injuries: Taylor Dent and Tatiana Golovin, and Japanese phenom Kei Nishikori.
Dent played his first ATP level match at Newport since February of 2006 because of a serious back injury. He looks very positive out on the court and is working hard to get back into top form.
Golovin is still ranked #24 in the world, but she has only played eight matches this year because of injuries. She hasn’t played since early May, and has skipped both the French Open and Wimbledon.
Nishikori, who won his first ATP title earlier this year, is also battling injuries, but not to the extent of Dent or Golovin. He strained an abdominal muscle about a month ago and was forced to retire from his match at Wimbledon.
Also training here are top juniors Filip Krajinovic (16 years old) of Serbia and Yuki Bhambri (also 16 years old) of India. Krajinovic is currently ranked #24 in the world, while Bhambri checks in at #10.

Nice to see Tatiana again, but a shame her feet are cropped in the chosen photo. I’ve checked out the other photos at Flickr. What do we read into Tatiana’s lack of ankle-supports?
She wasn’t wearing any ankle braces out there today, and she seemed to be moving pretty well out there.

Glad to see her practicing again. I really hope her back isn’t hurting anymore and that she’ll come back in Montréal as expected.
