Sharapova out of US Open?
The AP is reporting that Maria Sharapova will not play in the US Open due to the shoulder injury that forced her to withdraw from the Rogers Cup in Montreal. Sharapova has already pulled out of the Olympics with two small tears in her right shoulder.
After starting off 2008 with such a bang it looked like Maria was going to have a bounce back year. She was playing some of the best tennis of anyone on the WTA Tour, so this is definitely a disappointment. Hopefully the time off will let the injury heal so she will be ready for the year-ending championships.
