Former NBTA student Jelena Jankovic won her second title in as many weeks in Stuttgart and now has a 213 point lead over Serena Williams in the rankings. She defeated Venus Williams in the semis 6-7(8), 7-5, 6-2 and then best Nadia Petrova in the finals 6-4, 6-3 to capture the Tier II title. Since falling in the finals of the US Open to Serena, Jankovic is 9-1 and has won two titles.
She is playing this week in Moscow, Russia at the Tier I Kremlin Cup and will face either Vera Dushevina or another NBTA alum, Nicole Vaidisova, in the second round.

Congratulations to Jelena and congratulations to you mr Nick for making such a great player as Jelena.
I am wondering can you write a post to describe Jelena when she was a little girl at your academy? Can you write something like that for my blog (Jelena’s fansite)? it would make me very happy.
With respect,
Djordje
When Jelena came to the Academy she didn’t speak much English, but was determined and willing to put in the hours of training needed to move from the back courts to the front courts. She was here at the same time as Maria Sharapova and Tatiana Golovin. All three would train together on a daily basis and the results of that speak for themselves.
Jelena was always willing to listen and had the ability to adapt to different situations. She was a great girl and someone that I really enjoyed working with. I couldn’t be prouder of her and her achievements both on and off the court.
Nick, thanks for this nice words about our queen. Best regards from Serbia! Ana
Thanks a lot mr Nick!
Wish you all the best.
