Last three spots to be decided this week

Their is an entire group of men who could qualify for the year-ending Masters Cup this week in Paris, and their is one match we will be watching very closely tomorrow. American Andy Roddick won, who currently sits in sixth place, beat Feliciano Lopez yesterday to reach the third round. His opponent will now be none other than Gilles SImon, who holds the eighth and final spot in the Masters Cup standings.

Simon defeated Igor Andreev to set up this big match. Their are a whole host of scenarios of how both players can qualify, but essentially each needs to win this match very badly. Roddick is 1-0 against Simon, with that win coming in 2007 in Miami.

One player that will not be in Shanghai for the Masters Cup is David Ferrer. Last year’s runner up will miss out on the event after falling to Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-2 in the second round. The loss makes Ferrer’s record 10-10 since winning the title at s-Hertogenbosch back in June. He clearly is not playing like he was in 2007 at this time.
