Quarterfinals set as Roddick clinches

American Andy Roddick become the sixth player to clinch a spot at the year-ending Masters Cup with a 6-3,  7-5 victory over Gilles Simon yesterday. Roddick will join Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, Murray, and Davydenko in Shanghai for the event. Their are two spots remaining and five players vieing for those spots. Two of them lost yesterday, Juan Martin Del Potro and the aforementioned Simon and three are still playing: Blake, Tsonga, and Nalbandian.

If Blake, Tsonga, and Nalbandian all fall today then JMDP and Simon will clinch those last two spots. Blake plays Federer, Tsonga (who beat Djokovic yesterday) takes on Roddick and Nalbandian is playing Murray. The last quarterfinal is between Nadal and Davydenko. If Blake beats Federer he will still be one point behind Simon for the last spot and will need to win his semifinal match as well.
