Djokovic into semis at Masters Cup
After not winning a match last year, Novak Djokovic has definitely redeemed himself. The young Serbian became the first man to reach the semifinals of the Masters Cup in Shanghai with a 7-6(3), 0-6, 7-5 victory over Nikolay Davydenko. Djokovic is now 2-0 in group play as he already defeated Juan Martin Del Potro earlier this week. He still has to play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who has been eliminated from contention, in his last match.
For Davydenko, he is now 1-1 in the round-robin stage with a win over Tsonga earlier. He will face Juan Martin Del Potro in his last match with the winner advancing on. Del Potro defeated Tsonga today 7-6(4), 7-6(5) to level his record at 1-1. Del Potro and Davydenko are 1-1 against each other and the only time they met in 2008 was in Davis Cup play, and Del Potro won in straight sets. This should be an great match and I have to give a slight edge to Del Potro if he is playing his best tennis.
