Stepanek wins in California
For the second time in 2009, Radek Stepanek has won a title. His first came back in January in Brisbane, and now he has added San Jose to that list. Stepanek, who trains at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, beat American Mardy Fish 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to win the event. It was the second consecutive match that Stepanek had to make a comeback to win, after he lost the first set in the semifinals to Andy Roddick.
With the win, Stepanek moved up two spots in the rankings to #19 in the world, which is the highest he has been since he was #18 back in July of 2008. Congrats to Radek and keep up the great play this week in Memphis!
