Larcher de Brito reaches main draw at Indian Wells

Teenage tennis standout and Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy student, Michelle Larcher de Brito, 16, came through in the final round of qualifying to defeat Alberta Brianti of Italy, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. This was a rematch of their Australian Open match-up earlier this year where Brianti upset Michelle in straight sets. Brianti, 28, is currently ranked #127 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and has been as high as #79 (2007). This is Michelle’s first time to play in Indian Wells, a Sony Ericsson Premier Mandatory event.
