Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy student Giacomo Miccini, playing in his home country of Italy, at the 50th Trofeo Bonfiglio (ITF Grade A), defeated the #2 seed and 5th ranked junior player in the world, Shuichi Sekiguchi earlier today. The Trofeo Bonfiglio is one of the top clay-court junior tournaments in the world with past champions including Ivan Lendl, Guy Forget, Luke Jensen, Jim Courier, Goran Ivanisevic, Nicolas Almgaro, Virginia Wade, Gabriela Sabatini, Anna Kournikova, and Michaella Krajicek.

Miccini, who is only 16 years old, received a wild-card into the event and is playing in his first junior tournament in 8 months after undergoing surgery for a hip injury.
