Berankis into quarterfinals in San Jose

Nineteen-year old Lithuanian qualifier, Ricardas Berankis, moved into the quarters of the SAP Open in San Jose with a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over German Bjorn Phau. This is the first time Berankis has reached the quarters of an ATP event, and he qualified to get into the tournament and then beat veteran Robby Ginepri in the opening round. He will face either Benjamin Becker or Fernando Verdasco in the next round.
