Nick’s Picks from Wimbledon- 2nd round Womens
Serena Williams Vs. Caroline Garcia
Because of all the upsets, I am not even going to talk about Serena’s opponent.
Nick’s Pick- Serena, please dont look or talk the fact that many of the top women were knocked out. Just go out there and take care of business.
Sabine Lisicki Vs. Elena Vesnina
Sabine only dropped 3 games in her first match. She has been at the IMG Academy for several years. Her entire game is total power including her aggressive serves. She goes for winner from both sides. Her new coach has finally gotten Sabine to hit some defensive balls.
Elena comes in with a ranking of 22. She will not back down to Sabine in any way.
Nick’s Pick- This match will be won or lost by Sabine. If she gets her first serve in and also feels everything is goin right, she wins. The longer the rally, it starts favoring Elena.
Maria Sharapova Vs. Michelle Larcher De Brito
Michelle is a great scrambler from the baseline with an excellent future. She has darn good ground stroke techniques and a fair serve.
Maria will attack everything Michelle hits to her and will not hesitate to come in and hit lots of swinging volleys.
Nick’s Pick- Maria has too much fire power and will control play. Michelle must come out of her comfort zone and go for winners. Maria in straight sets.
Sloane Stephens Vs. Andrea Petkovic
Andrea started playing tennis at a young age. She suffered a serious ligament injury and just trained with no distraction. She has very aggressive groundstrokes, but has dropped to 76 in the rankings.
Sloane Stephens is still very young and has progressed every single day. SHe hits very aggressive shots from both sides. She drives the ball. Sloane has a bright future, this the time that she must start knocking out the top seeds.
Nick’s Pick- Sloane Stephens takes this one.
